We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a large group of companies Winnipeg, Manitoba on a Contract basis. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can support financial reporting, maintain robust control over reconciliations, and contribute to a smooth month-end process. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams to strengthen reporting accuracy, investigate variances, and help keep accounting activities on schedule.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations each month, ensuring account activity is properly supported and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Create and post journal entries that contribute to an accurate and efficient month-end close.
- Maintain fixed asset records by tracking acquisitions, retirements, depreciation, and related continuity schedules.
- Provide day-to-day accounting support on payables and receivables questions, helping teams address issues accurately and consistently.
- Produce monthly and recurring financial reports that meet internal reporting standards and timelines.
- Analyze financial results against budgets and prior periods, identifying notable variances and explaining underlying drivers.
- Assist with review engagement requirements by organizing schedules, preparing supporting documentation, and responding to information requests.
- Contribute to critical closing activities during peak reporting periods, particularly from August through October, to help ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve accounting accuracy, reinforce compliance, and enhance existing processes.




- At least 3 years of accounting experience in a senior-level or progressively responsible finance role.
- Strong hands-on experience with account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
- Proven ability to prepare journal entries, manage general ledger activity, and support month-end close procedures.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.
- Solid understanding of financial statement preparation and variance analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven Contract assignment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal business partners.
