Job Overview

The Early Childhood Educator supports children's learning, development, and daily well-being within the school environment at George Syme Community School. This role involves working with young learners, creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom, and supporting children's social, emotional, and educational development in collaboration with teachers and other school staff.

Responsibilities

- Plan and lead age-appropriate educational and play-based activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, communication, and early learning skills.
- Provide attentive care and support children's daily routines, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the school day.
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that respects children's individual abilities, backgrounds, and developmental needs.
- Assist children in developing social skills, independence, confidence, and positive relationships with their peers.
- Observe children's behaviour, participation, and developmental progress, sharing relevant information with teachers, colleagues, and families.




- Support classroom activities and collaborate with school staff to ensure children receive consistent care and guidance.

Requirements

Required:

- Robust caregiving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to support children's daily needs and encourage learning through structured activities and play.
- Patience, attentiveness, responsibility, and a positive approach to working with young children.
- Ability to maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, educational assistants, and other school personnel.

Preferred:

- Previous experience working with preschool or elementary school-aged children.
- Background in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field.
- Experience supporting children with diverse learning abilities or additional support needs.
- Familiarity with inclusive learning practices and child development.
- Experience working in a school, childcare centre, or community-based educational setting.

Pay: From $25.60 per hour
