We are seeking a Cost & Billing Accountant for a full-time opportunity based in Burnaby, BC. This position oversees project costing, client billing and reporting while working closely with accounting, operations and project management teams. The role offers the opportunity to improve processes, strengthen project controls and support accurate and timely financial information.

Job Tasks

- Coordinate project setup within accounting and project management systems, including the collection, review, completion and submission of vendor setup, onboarding, compliance and billing forms
- Utilize accounting systems and project tracking tools to input, track and control cost
- Verify costs are coded accurately
- Perform review of costs and input cost at completion
- Prepare project cost reports and forecast adjustments
- Partner with project teams and clients to coordinate reporting and billing requirements
- Accountable for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of all project billings and supporting documentation
- Create and maintain project reporting structures
- Work with project operations to establish processes for ensuing change orders are identified and accounted for
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements
- Develop and maintain KPIs and exception reporting related to project billings, accounts payable processing, labour costing, change orders and project reporting.




- Assisting project estimates by providing historical data from past projects.

Requirements

- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within engineering, construction, contracting or other project bases environments
- Experience with project costing, client billings, cost tracking and project reporting
- Solid analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies, process weaknesses and control deficiencies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, reporting requirements and competing deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across accounting, operations, project management and client organizations
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial information.

Compensation & Benefits

- $65,000 - $75,000 per year (dependent on experience)
