Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within our facility. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, as well as proficiency in using various hand and power tools. The Maintenance Electrician will ensure that all electrical work is performed safely and efficiently, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including low voltage wiring and logic controllers.
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine the layout of electrical systems.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to complete tasks related to electrical maintenance.
- Install and maintain electrical systems including EMT, PVC and rigid conduit, cable tray, instrumentation and controls wiring, new service installations, lighting installations, and more
- Read and interpret electrical schematics or prints
- Build and wire electrical control panels
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical system breakdowns, including machine breakdowns and power issues
- Ensure all installations meet local electrical code requirements
- Be self-organized with the ability to work under minimal supervision
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs to ensure optimal functionality of equipment.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff to renovate and build new electrical installations as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues before they become critical problems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience as an Industrial Electrician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Solid knowledge of electrical systems, including low voltage applications.
- 309A/442A electrical license with experience in industrial or commercial work
- Three or more years of experience as a licensed 309A/442A electrician is required
- Motor control knowledge would be considered an asset
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- Excellent working knowledge of the Ontario and Canadian Electrical Code
- Good Driving Record
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Previous maintenance person experience is a plus, demonstrating versatility in maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
