Founding Engineer (Full-Stack / AI-Native)

AINGEL | Seed-Funded AI Startup | Vancouver, BC

About AINGEL

AINGEL is a seed-funded AI startup building an AI-native customer intelligence platform combining CX Intelligence, Revenue Insights, and automated Quality Assurance (QA) to help businesses understand customer interactions, uncover opportunities, and improve performance.

We’re building across three core areas:

- CX Intelligence: Understand customer experiences across interactions and data sources, uncover recurring issues, identify root causes and surface actionable insights.
- Revenue Insights: Identify revenue risks and opportunities, including churn, cancellations, refunds, retention and growth opportunities.
- AI-Powered Quality Assurance: Automatically evaluate customer interactions against custom quality standards, helping businesses improve human and AI agent performance.

Our platform is designed for both B2B and B2C businesses, from ecommerce and consumer brands to SaaS, gaming, BPOs and enterprise customer operations.

But we’re not interested in building another collection of analytics dashboards.

We believe the next generation of enterprise software will be fundamentally AI-native: software that doesn’t just present information, but proactively identifies problems, investigates their causes, recommends solutions and increasingly automates the work required to resolve them.

Our vision is to build the intelligence and action layer across a company’s customer interactions.

AINGEL is backed by seed funding and led by a team with Silicon Valley experience scaling technology companies to nine-figure annual revenues and valuations exceeding $1 billion.

We’re now looking for an exceptional Founding Engineer to help build the next stage of the company.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join an early-stage, funded AI company and take meaningful ownership of a growing software platform.

You’ll work directly with the founders, customer experience experts and early customers to build, improve and scale AINGEL.

We’re looking for someone who is first and foremost an excellent software engineer, but who also thinks deeply about products, user experiences and how AI is changing the way software should be built.

You won’t simply receive a list of tickets to implement.

You’ll help translate customer problems into technical solutions, contribute ideas, challenge assumptions and shape the architecture and product as we grow.

You’ll have significant autonomy, direct access to the founders and the opportunity to influence both the technical direction and the evolution of the platform.

This is a hands-on engineering role with the potential to grow into broader technical leadership, including CTO, as the company scales.

What You’ll Work On1. Build and Own the Platform

- Develop and improve AINGEL’s full-stack application, including frontend, backend, APIs and integrations.
- Build scalable, reliable infrastructure using AWS and modern development frameworks.
- Design systems for ingesting, processing and analyzing large volumes of customer interaction data.
- Develop reusable data structures and intelligence capabilities that power multiple areas of the platform.
- Improve performance, reliability, security and maintainability as the product scales.
- Take ownership of technical decisions and drive features from concept through production.

2. Build AI-Native Products and Workflows

- Design and implement LLM-powered features, intelligent workflows and agentic capabilities.
- Explore how AI can fundamentally simplify or automate customer workflows rather than simply adding AI features to traditional software.
- Build systems that identify customer problems, investigate root causes and generate actionable recommendations.
- Help develop agentic workflows that can take actions across connected business systems, with appropriate controls and human oversight.
- Experiment with emerging models, frameworks and approaches to continuously improve the product.
- Identify opportunities to replace unnecessary manual processes with reliable AI-powered automation.

3. Develop and Optimize AI Infrastructure

- Build and improve LLM pipelines for classification, structured extraction, reasoning and analysis.
- Work with commercial and open-source models to optimize quality, latency and inference costs.
- Develop evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy, consistency and reliability.
- Implement model routing, caching, batching and other optimization techniques where appropriate.
- Design reliable AI systems with appropriate validation,

observability and error handling.
- Evaluate new AI technologies and determine where they create meaningful product advantages.

4. Help Shape the Product

- Work closely with the founders and domain experts to translate product requirements into intuitive, scalable software.
- Contribute to product architecture, workflows and user experience decisions.
- Proactively identify opportunities to simplify the platform, improve usability and deliver more value to customers.
- Research relevant technologies, products and technical approaches to inform development.
- Help determine when the right solution is a traditional interface, AI-assisted workflow, agent or fully automated process.
- Participate in technical discussions with customers and help turn feedback into improvements.

5. Help Build the Engineering Foundation

- Establish strong engineering practices, development workflows and documentation.
- Make pragmatic architectural decisions that balance speed, quality and scalability.
- Use modern AI development tools to accelerate engineering productivity.
- Help shape the technical roadmap and future engineering team.
- Take ownership of the platform’s long-term technical health.

What We’re Looking ForMust Have

Strong software engineering fundamentals

- Approximately 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated ability.
- Strong full-stack development experience across modern frontend and backend technologies.
- Experience designing, building and deploying production software.
- Solid understanding of databases, APIs, distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to independently own complex engineering projects from architecture through deployment.

AI-native engineering experience

- Hands-on experience building production applications using LLMs.
- Familiarity with model APIs, structured outputs, tool calling, retrieval and AI application architectures.
- Understanding of agentic workflows and where AI automation creates genuine value.
- Experience evaluating and improving AI system performance, reliability and cost.
- Comfortable using AI coding tools to accelerate development.

Product thinking and ownership

- Strong product intuition and an interest in solving real customer problems.
- Ability to translate high-level requirements into thoughtful technical solutions.
- Willingness to challenge assumptions and propose better approaches.
- Naturally curious about emerging technologies and how modern software products are evolving.
- Comfortable working directly with founders in a fast-moving startup setting.
- High degree of initiative, accountability and independence.

Execution

- Ability to move quickly from idea to working software.
- Comfortable making pragmatic decisions with incomplete information.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving and technical communication skills.
- A bias toward building, testing and shipping.

Nice to Have

- Computer science or related technical degree.
- Experience at a high-growth startup or respected technology company.
- Experience as an early or founding engineer.
- Strong experience with AWS infrastructure.
- Experience building data-intensive applications, analytics platforms or complex integrations.
- Familiarity with open-source LLMs, model hosting and inference optimization.
- Experience with AI agents, orchestration frameworks and evaluation systems.
- Strong frontend skills and an appreciation for excellent UI/UX.
- Experience building B2B SaaS or enterprise software.
- Interest in customer intelligence, customer experience or enterprise automation.

You don’t need to have done everything on this list. We’re more interested in exceptional engineering ability, strong fundamentals, curiosity and ownership than a perfect match against every technology or requirement.

Who Will Thrive Here

You’ll likely enjoy this role if:

- You love building software and want to spend most of your time doing it.
- You’re excited about how AI is changing software architecture, interfaces and workflows.
- You want to help shape a product rather than simply implement predetermined features.
- You naturally explore new technologies, products and approaches.

- You care about building software that is fast, reliable, intuitive and genuinely useful.
- You enjoy working closely with founders and having direct influence on company decisions.
- You want the ownership and upside of an early-stage startup.
- You’re comfortable operating with autonomy and taking responsibility for results.

We’re looking for someone who sees a customer problem and starts thinking about how to solve it, what can be automated and how to build something better.
