About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 84-year-old woman living independently in her long-time family home in Ottawa. She is physically and mentally capable, managing her daily activities well, though she experiences some vision issues. She values her independence and has lived alone for many years. While she is generally doing well, small tasks are becoming increasingly challenging, and she would benefit from regular support and companionship. She enjoys outings to local coffee shops and would appreciate assistance with errands and social activities. The client has a fall detection bracelet for safety.

Responsibilities:

- Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce isolation
- Assist with household tasks and general monitoring
- Help with small daily challenges (opening containers, adjusting devices, managing technology)
- Transport client to grocery store and assist with shopping
- Accompany client to local coffee shops and social outings
- Light housekeeping and tidying as needed
- Monitor home safety, particularly around stairs
- Provide general oversight and check-ins to ensure well-being
- Assist with occasional errands and appointments

What We're Looking For:

- Certified Personal Support Worker (PSW)
- Patient and understanding approach with seniors who value independence
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Experience supporting clients who may be resistant to receiving care




- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport
- Respectful of client autonomy while providing necessary support
- Comfortable with clients who are set in their routines
- Ability to assist with light mobility support around stairs
- Understanding of vision impairments and related needs

Schedule:

Once weekly visits, 3-4 hours per visit. Specific day and time to be determined based on client preference and caregiver availability. Flexibility in scheduling is appreciated as we establish the routine.
