We are seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Designer/Draftsperson with 3–5 years of experience to join our team on a full-time, 3-month contract, with the potential for permanent employment upon completion of the initial contract.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Senior Mechanical Engineer and Senior Mechanical Designer, interpreting conceptual sketches and technical direction to independently produce complete 2D and 3D drawing packages with minimal oversight. Drawing packages must be appropriately structured for review, permitting, bidding and Issued for Construction (IFC) purposes.

This is an in-office position based in Stoney Creek, Ontario. Hybrid and remote work arrangements are not available.

Duties, Experience & Qualifications

- Design mechanical systems and components, including industrial piping systems, pump systems, piping supports, HVAC, industrial machinery, tanks, vessels and structural steel components.
- Prepare accurate 2D drawings and 3D models, including general arrangements, layouts, assemblies, isometric drawings,



details and shop drawings.
- Demonstrated proficiency in CAD software, with preference given to experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks and Advance Steel.
- Apply relevant engineering codes, standards and drafting practices, including ASME and ASME B31.1, to ensure designs meet project specifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and design specifications.
- Conduct site visits to assess project requirements, attend client meetings, collect measurements and document existing conditions.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers and other project team members to develop and integrate mechanical designs.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including design specifications, technical information and test results.
- Research vendors, prepare equipment specifications, obtain quotations and assist with project estimates and proposals.
- Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Additional assets: Experience designing material handling systems, steel structures, platforms and HVAC systems.

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday, 8-hour work day (lunch not included)

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Stoney Creek, ON: reliable transportation required for commute. All work-related use of personal vehicle will be reimbursed

Pay: $29.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
