Part Time Weekend Life Enrichment Aide

*This position is ideal for individuals seeking consistent part-time hours in a supportive retirement home environment

As a Life Enrichment Aide, you will play an important role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a retirement home setting. Reporting to the Director of Recreation, you will assist in organizing and facilitating meaningful recreational and social activities tailored to seniors, including residents living with dementia or other cognitive and physical challenges. Your communication, teamwork, and organizational skills will contribute to creating a positive and engaging environment for residents and their families

Shift: every weekend (Saturday - from 10:00AM to 4:00PM and Sunday - 12:00PM to 4:00PM)

Rate of Pay: from $20.44 as per current Collective Agreement

Roles/Duties:

· Greet prospective residents and visitors in a professional manner.

· Require all visitors and vendors to sign in and out when they enter and leave building.

· Follow emergency protocols and procedures in a calm and assertive manner.

· Answer multi-line telephone including taking and relaying messages as needed.

· Ability to set-up and complete resident activities

· Exhibit and maintain professional work habits, appropriate punctuality, appropriate grooming, appropriate dress, a positive attitude and demeanor in interactions with residents, co-workers and the community-at-large.

· Work successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining solid working relationships with co-workers.

· Attend staff meetings and training as required.





· Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.

· Ability to make announcements on the paging system

· Numerous other responsibilities as needed

Skills/Proficiencies

· Computer knowledgeable, Experienced with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

· Experience in recreation is an asset

· Must be able to work flexible hours and ability to cover additional shifts during absences

· Excellent Communication Skills with Residents and Staff

· Detail Oriented

· Takes initiative, outgoing

· Requires ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds

· Excellent ability to speak and write in English

· Is respectful of client’s person and property, right and privacy, pleasant interpersonally, cheerful, tactful and courteous to Weston Gardens clients, their families and friends

· Possession of the emotional and mental maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a positive work relationship with the client, clients family

· Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Excellent organization and time management skills.

· Demonstrated ability to function as a team player.

· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

*ability to cover additional shifts during peak periods or absences

Rate of Pay: from $20.44 as per current Collective Agreement

- Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

- Recreation Aide: 1 year (preferred)
- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
