Lead Installation Electrician
Burton’s Electrical – Stephenville, NL
$35–$70/hour earning potential | Full-time | 4-Day Workweek
Journeyperson Electrician Certification Required
Does this sound like you?
Do you put more care and effort into your work, only to feel like that extra effort goes unrecognized and unrewarded?
Do you take pride in doing things right—not just getting them done—and put in the extra effort to deliver work you’re proud to put your name on?
Do you believe your earning potential should reflect your skill, productivity, quality of work, and the results you deliver—not simply the hours you spend on the clock?
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
We're looking for someone who takes pride in what they do, cares about the people they work with and the customers they work for, and wants their effort, ability and responsibility to be recognized and rewarded accordingly.
About the Role
This is more than a standard Journeyperson position.
As a Lead Installation Electrician, you'll be trusted to take ownership of the jobs assigned to you from handoff through completion.
Our goal is to set you up to succeed before you arrive at the job. You will be provided with a company vehicle outfitted with the tools and equipment required to complete each job. Most projects are estimated and scoped in advance, materials are ordered and prepared with support from our team, and our office handles scheduling and customer communication.
Your responsibility is to review the job you've been given, identify any issues or missing information before or during the work, organize and lead the installation, maintain our standards for quality and safety, communicate professionally with the customer while on site, and take responsibility for seeing the work through to successful completion.
Depending on the job, you may work independently, lead an apprentice, or lead a larger crew that includes apprentices and other Journeypersons.
Being the Lead doesn't mean doing everything yourself. It means taking responsibility for making sure the job gets done right.
Compensation & Schedule
$35–$70/hour earning potential
We believe greater responsibility, capability and results should come with greater earning potential.
Our performance compensation isn't about speed alone. We value the complete result: productivity, workmanship, safety, customer satisfaction, organization and ownership.
- $35/hour base wage
- Additional performance-based compensation per job
- The opportunity for high performers to earn significantly above the $35/hour base wage, with earning potential up to $70/hour
- Four-day workweek on most weeks
- Full-time position
What We Offer
We expect a lot from our Lead Installation Electricians,
and we believe it's our responsibility to provide the support, systems and opportunities that allow great people to succeed.
- Jobs that are sold and scoped before they're handed to you — so you're not expected to be the salesperson and installer
- Material support — material lists, ordering and job preparation are handled with support from our team
- Office support — scheduling, permits, customer notifications and administrative work are handled by our office
- Apprentice and additional field support based on the requirements of the job
- Varied work across residential and commercial installations, upgrades, troubleshooting and specialty projects
- Opportunity to lead while still working with the tools
- Training and development opportunities — opportunities to expand your skills as our services continue to grow
- A voice in how we operate — if you see a better way to do something, we want to hear it
- Opportunity to grow as the company continues to grow
We want our Lead Installation Electricians focused on what they do best: leading jobs, producing quality electrical work and taking care of our customers.

- Organize and lead the work in the field
- Perform residential and commercial electrical installations
- Complete service upgrades, panel changes and other electrical upgrades
- Perform troubleshooting, repairs and service work as required
- Complete electrical and mechanical work associated with heat pumps

- Determine the most efficient way to execute the work within the provided scope
- Lead and work alongside apprentices and other Journeypersons when required
- Maintain high standards for workmanship, safety and productivity
- Communicate professionally with customers while on site
- Treat customers' homes and businesses with care and respect
- Identify changes, additional work or unforeseen conditions and communicate them before proceeding
- Track materials used and communicate additional material requirements
- Complete required job documentation and photos
- Leave the work area clean and professional
- Ensure the work meets our standards and the customer is satisfied before considering the job complete
What We're Looking For
We're not simply looking for someone who checks the required boxes on a résumé. We're looking for the right person.
Someone who:
- Takes genuine pride in their workmanship
- Cares about the details
- Wants the finished product to be something they're proud to put their name on
- Works efficiently without sacrificing quality or safety
- Takes initiative and solves problems
- Can make positive decisions without constant supervision
- Accepts responsibility for the outcome of their work
- Leads by example
- Treats apprentices and coworkers with respect
- Helps the people working alongside them become better
- Understands that customer experience matters
- Communicates clearly with customers and coworkers
- Is organized and completes required documentation
- Is willing to follow established systems while also helping us improve them
- Wants to continue learning and taking on greater responsibility
Qualifications
Required:
- Newfoundland and Labrador Journeyperson Electrician certification
- Valid driver's licence
- Solid understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code
- Ability to work independently
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to lead and work effectively with others
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
Previous leadership experience is an asset, but you don't need to have held a formal "Lead" position before.
If you're the person others already rely on—the person who takes ownership, solves problems, cares about the finished product and helps get the job across the finish line—we're interested in talking to you.
Likewise, if you've recently become a Journeyperson but have the ability, attitude and drive we're looking for, we encourage you to apply.
