Site: St. Joseph Healthcare - Alternate Healthcare Facility

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 23:00 - 07:00

Overtime Methodology: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Site Overview

Located in downtown Hamilton, the Satellite Health Facility (SHF) is a collaborative healthcare space operated by St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and Hamilton Health Sciences. The facility provides specialized care for patients preparing for community care arrangements, ensuring main hospital beds remain available for acute medical needs. Working at this location places you in an essential community-focused healthcare environment.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will help maintain a safe, welcoming, and secure environment for healthcare staff, patients, and visitors. Daily responsibilities include:

- Conducting proactive security patrols and responding quickly to calls for service.
- Providing solid customer service and reassuring support to individuals under stress or requiring medical assistance.
- Offering safety escorts to staff and visitors upon request.
- Keeping precise shift logs, notebook entries, and detailed incident reports.
- Investigating occurrences, fulfilling door access requests, and reviewing CCTV footage.
- Addressing facility rule violations respectfully, utilizing de-escalation techniques and appropriate force when necessary to evict violators.
- Managing office tasks, including issuing ID badges, handling key distribution, and maintaining lost-and-found records.

Must Haves

- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.




- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C certification from a WSIB-approved provider.
- Minimum of one year of experience in healthcare security or law enforcement.
- Complete immunization records (Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and a 2-step TB skin test).
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Physical capability to walk, stand, and climb stairs for long periods during a shift.
- Clean-shaven face to ensure proper fit testing for N95 masks.
- Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), or willingness to complete Paladin's free training course prior to onboarding.

Nice-to-Haves

- Degree or diploma in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services.
