Job Summary

We’re looking for a compassionate, dependable Personal Support Worker to provide full care for a bedridden client who needs total assistance with all activities of daily living. The client always requires two-person support, so you will work closely with a second caregiver on every transfer, repositioning and personal care task. The role is about keeping the client safe, comfortable and dignified, and preventing complications from long-term bed rest.

Duties

- Provide complete personal care in bed, working as a two-person team: bed baths, oral care, hair care, skin care, dressing, and incontinence care including brief changes and peri-care.
- Reposition the client regularly according to the care plan, and help prevent pressure injuries by checking skin and reporting any redness or breakdown.
- Carry out safe two-person transfers using a mechanical lift (e.g. a Hoyer lift), slider sheets and other equipment, following safe lifting practices.
- Feed the client fully: position them upright, follow any prescribed diet or texture changes, pace meals carefully, and watch for signs of choking or swallowing difficulty.
- Keep track of fluid and food intake as required.
- Support medication administration according to the care plan and established procedures.
- Keep the client’s room and bedding clean and organized, including linen changes with the client in bed.
- Observe the client closely and promptly report changes in condition, comfort, skin, intake or behaviour to the family,

nurse or care team.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, and talk with the client throughout care to keep them comfortable and involved.

Your impact: Your careful, consistent care keeps the client protected, comfortable and free from avoidable complications. It also gives their family peace of mind.
