Help families feel comfortable and in control again
When families call Lice Buster, they’re often frustrated, overwhelmed and unsure what to do next. We’re looking for someone who can put families at ease, deliver professional head lice treatment with care and attention to detail, and provide transparent guidance on aftercare and prevention of future infestations
You’ll provide professional head lice screening, treatment, removal and education in clients’ homes. Education is a major part of every appointment: explaining what you find, demonstrating proper combing, answering questions and making sure families understand their next steps.
No previous lice-removal experience is required. We provide paid, hands-on training at our Cambridge clinic, along with equipment, supplies and ongoing support.
What you’ll do
- Travel directly from your home to scheduled client appointments.
- Examine hair for head lice and nits, provide treatment and complete careful, strand-by-strand removal.
- Create clean sections and work methodically through small sections of hair.
- Teach families proper combing techniques, aftercare, prevention and follow-up requirements.
- Offer calm, practical reassurance to adults and children without judgment.
- Follow Lice Buster’s treatment procedures and maintain accurate appointment notes and service records.
- Explain available products and help clients understand how to use them.
- Keep your equipment clean, disinfected, organized and stocked.
- Attend restocking visits and meetings at the Cambridge clinic approximately once or twice per month.
Who would enjoy this work?
This work suits someone who notices small details,
has patience for thorough hands-on work and follows through on commitments. You should be comfortable talking with families, working with children and staying focused during appointments that may last several hours.
Experience in hair care, childcare, education, nursing, PSW work or social services is helpful, but not required. Reliability, care and a willingness to learn matter.
What you’ll need
- A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to travel approximately one hour from your home for appointments.
- Availability on at least three days per week.
- Comfort working independently in clients’ homes.
- The ability to follow detailed instructions and complete thorough work without direct supervision.
- Clear communication, punctuality and a calm, professional manner.
- Comfort with close visual work, repetitive hand movements and appointments lasting several hours, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
- A satisfactory police background check.
Scheduling and location
You provide your availability and accept appointments that fit your schedule. Evening, weekend and holiday availability can open up additional booking opportunities.
This posting is for a technician based in Milton or a nearby community. Regular work takes place in clients’ homes. Initial training takes place at our Cambridge clinic, with occasional return visits for restocking and meetings.
Appointments depend on client demand, location and your availability.
Weekly hours and income are not guaranteed.
Pay, training and support
- Paid training at the applicable Ontario minimum wage.
- $22.50 per hour after training for client treatment time.
- $0.61 per kilometer for the one-way distance from your home to the client’s home.
- 10% commission on products you sell.
- Opportunities for performance-based pay increases and additional responsibilities.
- All treatment equipment and supplies provided.
- Ongoing training and support from Lice Buster.
This opportunity is offered on an independent contractor basis. Technicians keep their equipment at home and travel directly to appointments.
