About the Role

We are seeking a confident, personable, and motivated Surgical Counsellor to guide patients through their surgical journey, with a focus on refractive cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange.

The ideal candidate delivers premium patient service, builds trust, communicates the value of elective treatment options, and helps patients make informed surgical decisions. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, organization, and the ability to confidently discuss treatment costs and address patient concerns.

Responsibilities

- Deliver personalized, concierge-level service throughout the surgical journey.
- Conduct one-on-one counselling consultations to review surgeon-recommended lens options, benefits, limitations, and associated costs.
- Clearly explain the value of premium surgical options and address patient questions or concerns with confidence and professionalism.
- Proactively follow up with patients to support decision-making and facilitate surgical bookings.
- Coordinate surgical scheduling, financial arrangements, consent documentation, and preoperative preparation according to clinic protocols.
- Communicate with patients and healthcare professionals by phone, email, and in person.
- Maintain accurate patient records and coordinate closely with surgeons and clinical staff.
- Take ownership of patient follow-up, service quality, and timely progression through the surgical journey.

- Proficient with computers and Google Workspace; EMR experience is an asset.

Qualifications

- Minimum 2 years of experience in a patient-facing advisory, treatment coordination, or premium service role.
- Experience in ophthalmology, refractive surgery, cosmetic surgery, medical aesthetics, dental treatment coordination, or other elective healthcare settings is strongly preferred.
- Experience discussing elective treatment options and associated costs is a strong asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset.

Position Details

- Employment: Part-time / full-time.
- Location: Oakville, Ontario (on-site).
- Schedule: Weekdays, based on clinic needs.
