About Tre Mari Bakery

Tre Mari Bakery has been a cornerstone of Toronto's Corso Italia community for over 65 years. Our family-owned bakery offers traditional Italian breads, pastries, hot table meals, espresso beverages, and specialty foods.

We are seeking an experienced Hot Table Server & Barista who takes pride in excellent customer service, consistent beverage preparation, food presentation, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

This position is ideal for someone with previous café, restaurant, or food counter experience who is comfortable working independently and supporting newer team members.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Hot Table Operations

- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to customers.
- Serve hot table dishes, sandwiches, savoury pastries, desserts, and gelato.
- Portion and package meals accurately while maintaining consistent presentation.
- Cut and portion prepared dishes, including lasagna and eggplant parmigiana, evenly and consistently.
- Maintain strong knowledge of bakery products, ingredients, and allergens.
- Replenish food displays and communicate product shortages to the kitchen.
- Handle customer inquiries and requests professionally.

Barista & Beverage Preparation

- Prepare hot and cold coffee beverages accurately and consistently.
- Maintain quality and presentation standards for all beverages.
- Operate, clean, and maintain coffee equipment and related appliances.
- Serve gelato following established portioning and presentation standards.
- Keep the café and beverage preparation stations clean, stocked, and organized.

Closing Procedures & Inventory Control

- Independently complete hot table and café closing procedures.
- Follow and complete the Hot Table Closing Checklist.




- Accurately record food waste using the designated food waste log.
- Ensure food is properly handled, stored, and labelled according to established procedures.
- Thoroughly clean food service appliances, counters, and workstations.
- Restock supplies and prepare the department for the following shift.

Teamwork & Training

- Assist with training and supporting new hot table employees.
- Demonstrate proper food handling, beverage preparation, and cleaning practices.
- Maintain a consistent standard of service during busy periods.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, coworkers, and management.
- Help identify and resolve operational issues.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in a café, restaurant, bakery, or similar food service workplace is strongly preferred.
- Experience preparing espresso-based beverages is an asset.
- Comfortable working independently and completing closing responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail and product consistency.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and allergen awareness.
- Dependable, organized, punctual, and able to assist with training other employees.
