Our client is seeking an experienced and analytical Purchaser to manage purchasing activities within a fast-paced plumbing wholesale distribution environment. This is a key role responsible for supplier relationships, purchasing decisions, inventory levels, cost management, product availability and supporting overall business profitability.

The ideal candidate is a results-oriented purchasing professional who thrives on building strong supplier relationships, analyzing data, negotiating effectively, managing inventory and finding opportunities to improve costs and purchasing efficiency. This individual is highly organized, detail-oriented and able to balance multiple priorities while responding quickly to the needs of customers, sales and branch operations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while negotiating pricing, terms, conditions and other purchasing agreements to achieve the best overall value.
- Monitor inventory levels, purchasing reports and product demand to ensure appropriate stock availability while minimizing excess and slow-moving inventory.
- Coordinate inventory transfers, returns and other inventory-management activities in partnership with Branch Managers, Warehouse Teams and Sales Teams.
- Analyze supplier pricing, market conditions and competitive activity and make recommendations to support competitive pricing and profitability.
- Monitor and report on supplier incentive, rebate and volume programs and ensure opportunities are maximized.
- Manage warranty claims and resolve supplier issues, including pricing discrepancies, product concerns and delivery challenges.
- Forecast product volumes for existing and current products and support product setup, costing and maintenance of accurate purchasing data.
- Work closely with Sales, Projects and Quotations to support custom orders, project requirements, special pricing and urgent customer needs.




- Review customer specifications and drawings when required to identify appropriate products and obtain accurate pricing and quotations.
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing, inventory and supplier processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effectively prioritize multiple deadlines and demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving and relationship-building skills when working with suppliers, customers and internal teams.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

- Minimum 3 years of purchasing, buying or procurement experience, preferably within wholesale distribution.
- Experience with plumbing, hydronics, construction or related products and industries is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to evaluate costs, pricing, inventory and supplier performance and make sound business decisions.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills, with the ability to effectively use technology and business applications to track and analyze information, extrapolate data, generate meaningful reports and support business decisions.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, orders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working with purchasing, pricing, inventory and product information.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to react quickly, remain composed under pressure and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills,



with a strong commitment to customer service.
- Proven ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively with suppliers, vendors, customers and internal teams.
- Collaborative team player who works effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, sound judgment and a strong work ethic, with a high sense of urgency and accountability.
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field is an asset.

- In this role, you will be a key driver of the branch’s purchasing and inventory performance—ensuring the right products are available at the right time and at the right cost. Your ability to build strong supplier partnerships, manage inventory effectively, control costs, analyze purchasing data, and respond quickly to changing business needs will directly contribute to customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and profitability.
