Urban Distilleries brings together small-batch spirits, creative cocktails and welcoming hospitality in downtown Kelowna. Our venue includes a retail store, lobby tasting bar, patio and a speakeasy lounge, offering spirit tastings, cocktail workshops, dining experiences and private events.

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Tasting Room Manager to lead our retail store and tasting room operations. This working management role combines guest service, staff leadership, sales and daily operational oversight.

You will create memorable experiences that introduce guests to our spirits, turn tastings into bottle sales and encourage repeat visits. You should be equally comfortable leading a tasting, recommending a bottle and coaching staff.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive sales: Grow tasting revenue, bottle sales and related merchandise sales through engaging service, thoughtful recommendations and effective promotions.
- Lead the guest experience: Welcome guests, conduct informative spirit tastings and share the stories behind our products.
- Manage daily operations: Oversee opening and closing, staff scheduling, shift coverage, cash handling and point-of-sale procedures.
- Develop the team: Train and coach staff in product knowledge, tasting presentation, customer service, responsible service and sales.
- Maintain retail presentation: Keep shelves and displays attractive, organized, clearly priced and well stocked.
- Control inventory: Coordinate stock replenishment, conduct inventory counts and monitor samples, breakage and product usage.
- Build customer loyalty:



Develop relationships with regular guests and grow Shakers Cocktail Club membership.
- Promote experiences: Introduce guests to cocktail workshops, dining experiences, private events and other Urban Distilleries offerings.
- Support special events: Help organize and manage special events, coordinating setup, staffing and service to ensure a smooth and memorable guest experience.
- Coordinate across the business: Work with production, hospitality and ownership on product releases, promotions and guest bookings.
- Maintain standards: Keep guest areas clean and welcoming, uphold service procedures and address guest concerns promptly.
- Track performance: Monitor sales, tasting conversions and customer feedback, and recommend practical improvements.

Qualifications

- Experience in hospitality, specialty retail, tasting rooms or beverage service, with supervisory or management experience.
- A demonstrated ability to sell, build customer relationships and lead by example.
- An interest in craft spirits and cocktails, with the ability to explain products in an approachable way.
- Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence using point-of-sale systems, handling cash and managing inventory.
- Serving It Right certification.
- Availability to work weekends, evenings and special events.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely move cases of spirits.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
