About Renew

Renew Child and Youth Homes (RCYH) provides small, home-style residential support for children and youth. We're preparing to open a new home in the Peterborough area this December and are looking for Child & Youth Workers who would like to join our team.

Our homes are intentionally small. We want staff to have the opportunity to really get to know the young people they support, build trusting relationships and help make everyday life feel welcoming and familiar.

We believe the little things matter. Sharing a meal, helping with homework, encouraging a new interest or being there when someone is having a difficult day can make a meaningful difference.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Building positive relationships with children and youth while respecting their individual needs, rights and boundaries.
- Supporting daily routines, including meals, school, appointments, family contact, recreation and life skills.
- Providing supervision and following each young person's Plan of Care and safety plan.
- Responding to emotional and behavioural challenges using trauma-informed approaches and approved crisis-intervention techniques.
- Encouraging participation in recreational, cultural and community activities.
- Completing daily documentation, shift notes, medication records and incident reports as required.
- Working alongside colleagues, clinical professionals and other members of each young person's support team.
- Helping maintain a comfortable,

organized and welcoming home, including shared household responsibilities.
- Supporting medication routines when trained and authorized, and providing transportation when needed.

Staff working awake overnight shifts must remain awake and available throughout their shift to provide supervision and respond to residents' needs.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for people who enjoy working with children and youth, understand the importance of relationships and can provide dependable support, particularly during difficult moments.

Qualifications and requirements:

- A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Social Service Work, Psychology or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered, subject to applicable requirements.
- Experience supporting children or youth affected by trauma, mental-health concerns, developmental needs or challenging behaviours is an asset.
- A valid Ontario Class G driver's licence.
- Current First Aid/CPR and approved crisis-intervention training, or the ability to obtain these certifications.
- Satisfactory Broad Record Check and any additional required screening.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and awake overnights.

Because RCYH works alongside Indigenous children, families and community partners, experience supporting Indigenous children and youth or working alongside Indigenous communities is an asset. Equally important is a willingness to learn, practise cultural humility and support each young person's identity, family and community connections.
