Mobile Trailer Mechanic - Heavy Duty Trailers

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Mobile Trailer Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trailers at customer yards and job sites. This role requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience with trailer air brake and electrical systems, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair mechanical, air brake, suspension, and electrical issues on heavy-duty trailers.
- Repair and replace brake components, wheel-end components, bearings, seals, airbags, and suspension parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems, trailer lighting, wiring, and air leaks.
- Repair trailer doors, door hardware, landing gear, floors, roofs, and interior and exterior panels.
- Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication, inspections, and running repairs.
- Complete basic welding and fabrication as required.
- Maintain accurate records of labour, repairs completed, and parts used.
- Communicate clearly with the service coordinator and customers regarding repair needs and job progress.
- Follow safe work procedures and maintain an organized service vehicle.

Requirements





- Minimum five years of hands-on experience in heavy-duty trailer maintenance and repair.
- Robust knowledge of trailer air brakes, ABS, suspension, electrical systems, and wheel-end components.
- Experience servicing dry van trailers; reefer, tri-axle, and quad-axle trailer experience is an asset.
- Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs independently in a mobile service environment.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred.
- Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform the physical duties of the position.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between customer locations.

Licence/Certification

- 310J Truck-Trailer Service Technician certification preferred.
- 310T Truck and Coach Technician certification is an asset.
