Our client, a leading Oil & Gas Services organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Calgary team on a long-term contract basis. This role will focus on fixed asset and capital accounting, month-end reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities:
Manage fixed asset transactions, including additions, disposals, transfers, capitalizations, accruals, and journal entries.
Maintain supporting schedules for property, plant and equipment and intangible assets, including asset continuity and movement reporting.
Review monthly asset activity and prepare gain and loss reports.
Investigate variances, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records.
Collaborate with finance, operations, procurement, legal, tax, and audit teams to support accurate asset reporting.
Work with project managers to monitor capital spending and ensure costs are correctly classified.
Support process improvements, system enhancements, testing, training, and data cleanup initiatives.
Maintain financial system reporting and schedules, and assist with internal and external audit requests.
Support additional fixed asset accounting activities and special projects as required.

Requirements:
Postsecondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 2 years of accounting or auditing experience, ideally with exposure to fixed asset accounting.
Strong knowledge of fixed assets, capitalization, depreciation, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger processes.
Understanding of capital asset and lease accounting standards, including construction in progress and labour capitalization.
Experience with SAP,



JD Edwards, or a similar ERP system is an asset.
Advanced Excel skills, including working with large datasets; Power BI experience is an asset.
Solid communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
Accounting designation or progress toward one preferred.
