3 Step Recruitment

Montreal

Do you understand the construction market and have strong relationships with general contractors, developers, estimators and preconstruction teams?

The Opportunity

A well-established Canadian construction materials company is looking for a Regional Business Development Manager to lead growth across Quebec.

This is not a traditional account-management role and it is not a generic building-materials sales position.

The company is looking for someone who already understands the Quebec construction market, has strong relationships with general contractors, developers, estimators and preconstruction teams, and knows how major construction projects move from early planning through tender, pricing and award.

The business supplies reinforcing steel and related solutions into major:

- Commercial construction
- Institutional projects
- Infrastructure
- Bridges and transportation
- Industrial projects
- High-rise and large residential developments

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying projects early, building relationships with the people influencing purchasing decisions, getting involved before tender, and working closely with estimating to help secure profitable work.

What They Are Really Looking For

The strongest candidates will come from rebar, reinforcing steel, formwork, structural steel, precast concrete, concrete systems or a closely related construction product environment.

What matters most is not simply the product you have sold.

The company wants someone who has a current, usable network within the Quebec construction market.

You should be comfortable calling senior contacts at major general contractors and discussing upcoming projects with people such as:

- Chief Estimators
- Senior Estimators
- Preconstruction Directors
- Project Executives
- Procurement leaders
- Developers
- Owners
- Senior construction decision-makers

If you joined tomorrow, you should already know who you would start calling.

What You Will Do

You will take ownership of business development across Quebec and work largely independently in the field.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Develop new business with major general contractors, developers and construction stakeholders
- Identify projects well before tender
- Build and maintain relationships with estimators, preconstruction teams, project executives and senior decision-makers
- Track upcoming commercial, infrastructure, industrial and institutional projects
- Participate in early project discussions,

budgeting and pre-tender planning
- Work closely with the estimating team on pricing, scope and bid strategy
- Review plans, specifications and project requirements
- Help position the company early enough to improve the likelihood of being included in successful bids
- Follow opportunities through the full sales cycle from initial project identification to tender, negotiation and award
- Maintain an active pipeline of upcoming projects
- Develop new accounts while strengthening existing customer relationships
- Represent the company at industry events, meetings and project discussions
- Provide market intelligence on competitors, pricing, upcoming projects and customer activity

The Ideal Background

You will likely have 10+ years of construction sales, business development, estimating or project-related commercial experience.

Ideal backgrounds include:

- Reinforcing steel / rebar
- Formwork and shoring
- Structural steel
- Precast concrete
- Concrete construction systems
- Foundations
- Heavy civil construction products
- Other highly related structural construction materials

Experience selling directly to major general contractors is strongly preferred.

What Will Make You Stand Out

You will be particularly attractive if you can demonstrate:

- An active network of major Quebec general contractors
- Existing relationships with estimators and preconstruction leaders
- Experience identifying projects before they reach tender
- Understanding of construction drawings, specifications and estimating
- Experience participating in pricing and bid strategy
- A track record of winning significant construction projects or accounts
- Strong new-business development ability
- Experience managing a large geographic territory independently
- Knowledge of the Quebec construction market
- Fluency in French and strong professional English

This Role May Not Be the Right Fit If

Your experience is primarily:

- Distributor or channel sales
- Retail building materials
- Sales to small trades only
- Architect/specifier relationships without direct contractor relationships

- Site-level relationships without access to estimating or preconstruction
- Account maintenance without meaningful new-business development

The company needs someone who can create opportunities, open doors and influence projects before bids are submitted.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important Quebec growth market rather than inherit a narrow account list.

You will have:

- A large and established Canadian organization behind you
- Significant autonomy over your territory
- Direct access to senior leadership
- Support from experienced estimating and operations teams
- The ability to pursue major projects throughout Quebec
- A strong base salary with additional bonus potential
- Vehicle and travel support
- The opportunity to build something meaningful in a market with significant room for growth

Compensation

Base Salary: $95,000–$135,000

Additional compensation includes a discretionary annual bonus, with final structure based on experience and performance.

The company also provides vehicle allowance or mileage reimbursement, business travel reimbursement and a comprehensive benefits package.

Location & Travel

This is a remote / field-based Quebec position.

Most activity will be concentrated around:

- Greater Montreal
- Quebec City
- Southern Quebec
- Major infrastructure and construction markets throughout the province

Regular customer meetings and field travel are expected.

Apply

If you have spent your career building relationships within the Quebec construction market and already know the contractors, estimators and preconstruction teams involved in major projects, we would like to hear from you.

Please apply with your resume and a brief summary of the types of contractors, projects and construction products you have worked with.
