Job Overview
HR Coordinator – Bring Your Experience, Ideas & People-First Approach to NFM
THE OPPORTUNITY
At Newfound Mechanical Ltd. (NFM), we’re a locally owned and operated family business with a strong reputation for delivering plumbing, heating and HVAC solutions on industrial and commercial construction projects across Atlantic Canada. Behind every successful project are the people who make it happen—and we’re looking for an experienced HR Coordinator who wants to make a difference for those people.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being the person others can count on. You’ll keep the important details moving, support employees and managers in both our office and field operations, and bring ideas that help us make our people processes even better. It’s a hands-on position with room to think ahead, solve problems and contribute to how HR supports a growing business.
WHO YOU ARE
You’re approachable, organized and genuinely enjoy helping people. You’re comfortable jumping into the details—whether that means coordinating a new hire, following up on training records or sorting out an employee question—but you also look for ways to make the next process smoother.
You bring sound judgment, discretion and the confidence that comes with experience. You can manage competing priorities without losing sight of the people involved, work comfortably with tradespeople and office teams, and offer practical suggestions rather than waiting to be asked. Most of all, you’re a team player who likes being useful, taking initiative and seeing your work have an impact.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This position will report directly to the Business Administration Manager. Working with NFM’s teams across Atlantic Canada, you’ll support day-to-day HR coordination while helping identify opportunities to improve employee experience, consistency and efficiency.
Recruitment, Onboarding & Employee Support
· Coordinate recruitment for trades and office positions, including job postings, candidate communication and hiring logistics.
· Support welcoming, organized onboarding and offboarding,
ensuring documentation and follow-through are completed.
· Be an approachable point of support for employee questions and assist with employee relations, attendance and benefits administration.
· Help coordinate employee engagement initiatives, company social events and internal communications.
HR Administration & Workforce Coordination
· Maintain accurate, confidential employee records, certifications, training files and other HR documentation.
· Organize and collect jobsite timecards and assist with verification of hours for union and non-union employees.
· Keep HR activities, deadlines and follow-ups organized so managers and employees receive timely support.
· Maintain job postings and support company social media content.
Compliance, Safety & Process Improvement
· Support compliance with applicable employment standards and HR requirements across Atlantic Canada.
· Assist with WorkplaceNL/WCB documentation, COR compliance, audits and health and safety recordkeeping.
· Track training and certification requirements and help ensure records are current and accessible.
· Spot gaps or recurring challenges, recommend practical improvements and help put better HR processes into action.
· Contribute ideas that strengthen recruitment, onboarding, communication and the overall employee experience.
YOU BRING
· At least 5 years of progressive, hands-on HR experience, ideally in a coordinator or generalist capacity.
· A diploma or degree in Human Resources or a related field.
· Working knowledge of Atlantic Canadian employment standards and occupational health and safety requirements.
· Experience supporting recruitment, employee documentation and day-to-day HR processes with minimal supervision.
· Strong organizational,
communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent attention to detail and confidentiality.
· The ability to balance routine coordination with proactive problem-solving and thoughtful ideas for improvement.
· A collaborative, service-minded approach and confidence working with both field and office employees.
· Experience in construction or the trades, and exposure to a COR-certified environment, are assets.
COMPENSATION & ADVANTAGES
We value the people behind our success. When you join NFM, you become part of a team that takes pride in the work we do, the relationships we build and the people who make it all possible. We offer a supportive, cooperative environment where your contributions matter, your ideas are welcomed and you have opportunities to grow and develop.
· Annual salary: $60,000–$65,000, based on experience.
· Benefits include extended health and dental care, vision care, life insurance, disability insurance and RRSP matching.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Great HR support is about more than paperwork. It’s making sure new employees feel welcome, teams have the information they need, important details don’t fall through the cracks, and people know where to turn for help. At NFM, your work will support the employees behind complex construction projects—and your ideas can help make the experience better for everyone.
If you’re an HR professional who loves being hands-on, enjoys helping others and wants to contribute more than a checklist, we’d love to hear from you.
OUR COMMITMENT TO EQUITY & INCLUSION
