About Us

Global Pet Foods Stellarton is a proudly Canadian, locally owned and operated pet specialty store that has served Pictou County since 2012. We believe pets are undeniably part of the family. Through quality products, education, and friendly, knowledgeable service, we help pet parents make choices they feel good about.

We are looking for a dependable, friendly, and motivated person to support our team through the holiday season, store events, and temporary staff absences.

Our store values teamwork, initiative and genuine relationships with customers. We take pride in our work while keeping the atmosphere welcoming, supportive and enjoyable.

The Role

You will welcome customers, help them find suitable products, and contribute to a clean, stocked, and organized store.

You do not need to arrive as a pet nutrition expert. We provide paid training and a supportive, experienced team to help you learn and assist with questions along the way. Bring a helpful attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to ask for support when needed.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Greeting customers and starting friendly, helpful conversations
- Helping customers find products and making recommendations as your knowledge develops
- Working with experienced teammates to answer questions and provide excellent customer service
- Processing purchases accurately and assisting with carry-outs
- Receiving, stocking, rotating, and merchandising products
- Completing daily cleaning, including sweeping, mopping, dusting,

and tidying shelves and storage areas
- Helping with seasonal displays, store events, and deeper cleaning and organization projects
- Completing opening and closing duties and participating in paid training

Customer service comes first. Everyone shares the practical work that keeps the store looking its best and running smoothly.

What We Are Looking For

- Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred; pet retail experience is an asset
- A positive, helpful attitude and confidence approaching customers
- Reliability, punctuality, and pride in completing work properly
- Initiative to notice what needs doing and stay on task without repeated reminders
- Respect for every teammate and willingness to follow direction from the person leading the shift
- Willingness to accept feedback, learn, and ask questions
- Comfort learning our POS system and using basic computer programs
- Ability to stay active throughout a shift and lift and move products weighing up to 30 lbs
- A reliable way to get to and from scheduled shifts

Hours and Availability

Approximately 12 to 25 hours per week, with shifts typically four to eight hours long. Additional hours may be available during busy periods and temporary staff absences.

Evening and weekend availability is required, particularly Monday through Wednesday evenings, along with availability for at least one closing shift each weekend. Availability for extended holiday hours is also required.

You may have the opportunity to continue in a part-time or casual role after January, depending on business needs, availability, and performance.

Continued employment is not guaranteed, and ongoing hours may be lower.

What We Offer

- $18.50 to $19.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay and bonus opportunities
- An excellent employee discount and applicable pet-related team perks
- Schedules normally posted three weeks in advance
- Paid training and support from experienced teammates
- Opportunities for additional shifts
- A welcoming workplace where meeting pets is part of the day!
- The opportunity to contribute to a proudly Canadian, locally owned business
