Support wastewater facility operations as an Operator Trainee with the Regional District of Nanaimo. Work full-time at either pollution control centre as operationally required.

The Regional District of Nanaimo seeks two temporary full time Operator Trainees for its Wastewater Services Department. Reporting to the Chief Operator, you will assist with unskilled and semi-skilled tasks involving operations, maintenance, and routine facility housekeeping. The assignment is based at either the French Creek Pollution Control Centre or Greater Nanaimo Pollution Control Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist the Chief Operator with wastewater facility tasks
- Perform operations activities at the assigned centre
- Complete maintenance tasks under departmental direction




- Conduct routine housekeeping throughout the facility
- Work at either site when operationally required

Requirements:

- Eligibility to write the BC Environmental Operators Certification Program OIT exam
- Enrollment in a post-secondary Wastewater Treatment Technology Program
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License
- Availability for weekend shifts
- Level 1 First Aid certification considered an asset
