SMS Equipment is looking for a Mining Equipment Technical Specialist (Mechanical) to support the timely repair of down mining equipment. This role provides technical support to field and shop teams to ensure maintenance and repair activities are completed in a protected, efficient, and cost‑effective manner, helping to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.

Work Location: Remote – Mining One Team
Salary: $115,000 - $125,000 Annually
Work Arrangement: 75% remote/25% onsite. Candidates located in Eastern Canada are preferred with access to a major airport.
Schedule: Monday to Friday with regular travel to SMS branches and/or customer mine sites is required based on business needs. Applicants should expect approximately one site visit per month, with frequency and duration varying based on operational requirements.

What You’ll Do

- Respond promptly to equipment‑down situations requiring advanced technical troubleshooting, including providing after‑hours technical support as needed.
- Support the development of project plans, priorities, budgets, and schedules while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory, safety, and procedural requirements.
- Track, monitor, and support field test programs, maintaining close communication with the Reliability Group and Corporate Technical Support teams.
