Prince George

Precision Machinery is a Prince George, BC-based manufacturer of specialized industrial machinery and equipment used by customers throughout North America. For more than 15 years, we have designed, manufactured, installed, and serviced equipment for industrial customers. We are looking for a mechanically and electrically capable Field Service Technician who enjoys troubleshooting, precision work, travel, customer interaction, and solving problems independently. This is a varied position combining field service, machinery assembly, troubleshooting, customer support, and shop work. Our technicians also play an important role in developing customer relationships and identifying opportunities for additional parts, service, upgrades, and equipment. Candidates with backgrounds such as industrial electrical, saw filing, aircraft or helicopter maintenance, CNC machine service, or similar technical work may be particularly well suited to the position. Experience with our specific equipment is not required. We place significant value on mechanical and electrical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, independence, and the capacity to learn. Employment Options We are open to full time, part-time, or casual/on-call employment arrangements depending on the candidate's experience, availability, and fit with the position. For the right candidate, this role may eventually be structured primarily around off-site field-service assignments, rather than regular full-time shop hours. This can be particularly well suited to an experienced technician who is interested in periodic travel assignments without committing to a traditional full-time schedule. All technicians must first complete sufficient training and demonstrate competency with our equipment and service requirements before performing field assignments independently. Casual and on-call work will depend on customer requirements and service demand and therefore will not necessarily provide consistent or guaranteed hours. Responsibilities
- Perform field service, troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, and overhauls on Precision Machinery equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine practical solutions in the field.
- Assemble and service machinery to precise standards and tight tolerances.
- Travel throughout Canada and the United States for customer installations, service work, maintenance, and repairs.

- Work independently at customer facilities once training and competency requirements have been completed.
- Develop strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for replacement parts, repairs, upgrades, additional equipment, and other Precision Machinery products or services.
- Actively support sales opportunities encountered while working with customers in the field.
- Communicate customer needs, sales opportunities, and relevant field information back to the company.
- Operate and assist with company equipment and production processes while working in the shop, which may include operating chemical process lines.
- Complete required service reports, documentation, and customer paperwork.
- Follow Precision Machinery and customer safety requirements.
- Properly use and maintain company tools and equipment.
- Represent Precision Machinery professionally while working in our facility and at customer sites. Travel Travel is a significant component of this position and varies according to customer requirements and sales activity.
- Travel will commonly represent approximately 25–50% of working time for regular employees, although individual periods may involve substantially more travel.
- Field-service trips are typically approximately two weeks in duration, plus or minus several days.
- Travel occurs throughout Canada and the United States.
- Candidates should be comfortable spending extended periods away from home and working independently while travelling.
- For casual or travel-focused technicians, assignments may primarily consist of individual field-service trips as customer requirements arise. Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant mechanical, electrical, industrial service, aircraft maintenance, CNC service, or similar technical experience.
- Trade certification, technical training, or significant relevant field experience will all be considered.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience is a significant asset.

- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, manuals, and equipment documentation.
- High attention to detail and ability to perform precision assembly work.
- Resourceful and comfortable solving problems independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with customers and coworkers.
- Comfortable discussing customer needs and identifying appropriate products, services, or solutions.
- Valid driver's licence with an acceptable recent driver's abstract.
- Valid passport and ability to travel throughout Canada and the United States without restriction.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, or alternate shifts when required by field-service work.
- Ability to complete customer
- and company-required safety training.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 lb as required. Compensation and Benefits
- Base wage: $40.00–$43.25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- After completing the training period and demonstrating the ability to perform off-site service work independently, technicians receive a separate off-site work premium, currently $5.00 per hour, for qualifying off-site hours.
- Field-service assignments can involve extended
