Hamaru Sushi, a 70-seat Japanese restaurant in Toronto, is hiring an experienced Server for our dining room. We have a loyal base of regular guests, and we're looking for someone who knows Japanese restaurant service — sushi, sashimi, and sake — and can look after our guests with care and confidence. Responsibilities
- Greet and seat guests; present menus and daily specials
- Take accurate orders for sushi bar items, kitchen dishes, and drinks (including sake)
- Serve food and beverages; check back on tables; process payments through the POS
- Keep the dining room clean, stocked, and ready for service Skills Required: Robust customer service, hospitality, serving, time management, basic math, cashiering, cash handling, and safe food handling and sanitation practices support dependable service. Preferred: Food service, restaurant, food industry, or kitchen experience; familiarity with POS or Micros POS, food preparation, guest services, upselling, and food safety is an advantage. - Minimum 5 years of serving experience in a Japanese restaurant (required)
- Weekend availability is a must — Saturday and Sunday shifts required
- Smart Serve certification (required for alcohol service)
- Solid knowledge of Japanese menu items and basic sake service
- Fluent English; Korean or Japanese is an asset
