Components Line Manager

Burnaby, BC Reports to: President Build and Grow a Product Line for a Growing Company Delco Elevator Products is a rapidly growing distributor serving elevator contractors across Canada and the United States. We are looking for a Components Product Manager to take ownership of our components line and build the pricing, products and suppliers it needs for its next stage of growth. This is an opportunity for someone who loves finding products, knows how to price them, and enjoys taking accountability for results. The role This is a hands-on job. You are the first person dedicated to our components line. You will research competitor prices, source new products from manufacturers worldwide, run pilots with our sales team, and decide what we promote, Working with sales, marketing and operations, you will report directly to the President. What you'll own:
- Pricing: ongoing competitor research in Canada and the US, price lists by product group, and the annual increase
- Margin: staying competitive without leaving money on the table
- New products: a pipeline of new products from manufacturers worldwide, and about four pilots a year with our sales team
- Competitive intelligence: who we compete with for each product group, and what they carry that we don't
- Suppliers: negotiating terms, finding better sources, and onboarding new suppliers, many of them overseas
- Customer portal: moving components ordering onto our new portal and getting customers to use it
- Promotion: what we promote and when, from new launches to overstock, working with marketing
- Growth programs: components packages for modernization quotes, OEM branches and channel partners
- Product knowledge: the go-to person on components for our sales and customer service teams What Success Looks Like

- Components ordering live on our customer portal, with customers using it.




- A competitor map by product group, kept current.
- A steady pipeline of new products, with four pilots launched in year one.
- Strong supplier relationships and better sources for key products.
- A three-year growth plan for components.
- A components line ready for its next stage of growth. Qualifications
- 3+ years in product, category or purchasing management, or inside sales, at a distributor or wholesaler that sells to the trades: plumbing, HVAC, electrical, industrial supply or equipment parts
- Pricing and margin

experience:
you know how to protect margin and when to hold a price
- Strong research

skills:
you find products, manufacturers and pricing worldwide that others miss
- Comfortable building your own analysis in Excel and working in inventory or ERP systems
- Mechanical aptitude: you enjoy working out what part fits what
- Able to bring sales, marketing, operations and suppliers along without managing them
- Based in Metro Vancouver — this role is fully on-site in Burnaby
- Legally entitled to work in Canada Strong assets
- Elevator industry knowledge, especially of components
- Mandarin, or other languages helpful for sourcing from overseas suppliers
- Experience sourcing from and negotiating with overseas manufacturers
- Experience launching or running B2B online ordering Who You Are You love products and markets. You are curious, commercial and organized, and you would rather check a competitor's price than guess. You enjoy research, negotiating and solving problems, and you follow through on what you start. You communicate openly, work well with a team, and take pride in building a product line customers rely on.
