Core Services, Clinical Lead *Progressive Life Centre
* November 2026 Department: PLC Core ServicesReporting to: Program & Operations ManagerDirect floor leadership: 20–30 hours per week Mission of this Role Strengthen the quality of PLC’s core services by embedding evidence-based teaching into fun, engaging and meaningful daily activities. Support participants to build skills, exercise choice and work toward individual goals while protecting dignity, assent, safety and inclusion. Work directly on the floor for 20–30 hours per week, leading activities alongside staff, modelling and demonstrating effective teaching, and providing practical coaching and feedback. Combine this hands-on leadership with quality assurance of clinical programming and staff practice so that agreed improvements are visible in everyday delivery. Responsibilities and Target Outcomes1. Direct floor leadership and demonstration
- Spend 20–30 hours each week actively delivering and co-leading participant activities, modelling approved strategies, demonstrating skills and coaching facilitators in real time. This is a regular delivery responsibility, not occasional floor observation or session coverage.
- Demonstrate preparation, clear instructions, appropriate pacing, communication supports, prompting and fading, and respectful responses to participant needs. Give staff opportunities to practise, observe their performance and provide specific feedback.
- Coordinate floor time with the Program & Operations Manager and the Program Operations Intimate Care & Respite Lead. Schedule programming, documentation, training and QA work around the agreed floor commitment; total weekly hours remain to be confirmed. Target outcome: Staff can see, practise and consistently use effective approaches during actual participant activities. 2. Evidence-based, engaging and individualized activities
- Embed approved evidence-based teaching strategies into recreation, independent living, wellness, social and community activities. Use methods such as modelling, task analysis, prompting and fading, reinforcement and practice across settings where appropriate to participant goals and approved plans.
- Make activities enjoyable, age-respectful and meaningful. Offer choice, build on participant interests and adapt materials, communication, task difficulty, pacing and supports to individual needs.
- Seek and respond to ongoing assent, including communication of refusal or discomfort. Respect dignity, autonomy, breaks and alternatives; do not treat compliance alone as evidence of engagement or learning. Target outcome: Activities are engaging and accessible, with clear teaching purposes linked to individual goals. Responsibilities and Target Outcomes3. Clinical programming and quality assurance
- Review activity plans, participant Program Guides, teaching materials and support plans for clear goals, appropriate strategies and consistent implementation. Develop or recommend updates within competence and obtain qualified approval where required before changes are implemented.
- Observe delivery and review relevant session records and participant progress information. Check whether staff are implementing approved plans as intended, whether activities remain engaging, and whether skills are developing and carrying over into daily life.

- Maintain a practical QA record of findings, agreed actions, owners and review dates. Re-observe delivery after feedback or training, verify improvement and escalate unresolved quality or safety concerns. Target outcome: Clinical programming is current, consistently delivered and improved through documented follow-through. 4. Staff training, coaching and feedback
- Identify training needs through direct observation, documentation review, participant outcomes and staff questions. Provide orientation and ongoing training on approved teaching, communication, behaviour-support and documentation practices.
- Use instruction, modelling, rehearsal and feedback to build competence. Check staff demonstration of skills rather than relying on training attendance alone; provide further practice and reassessment when needed.
- Give timely, respectful and specific feedback. Record strengths, competency gaps and agreed development actions, and contribute clinical performance feedback to the Manager without assuming employment or disciplinary authority.
- Support placement-student training, floor supervision and competency feedback within confirmed capacity and supervision arrangements. Coordinate with the Operations Lead; the Manager retains placement administration, school liaison and placement decisions. Target outcome: Staff and students receive usable feedback and demonstrate the skills needed for their assigned work. 5. Participant support, collaboration and safe practice
- Deliver support within approved participant plans and confirmed competence. Follow approved behaviour-support, de-escalation, communication, safety and emergency procedures, documenting and escalating concerns promptly.
- Contribute observations to assessment, program-fit and clinical-risk discussions, incident learning and case reviews. Consult the designated qualified clinician or RBA as required; seek approval for changes outside the role’s delegated authority.
- Share approved goals, progress and relevant observations with families and the team through agreed communication processes. Route service logistics, complaints and operational decisions to the appropriate accountable person.
- Identify materials and preparation needs, support safe and organized activity spaces, and contribute clinical-quality findings and improvement recommendations to the Manager’s program review. Target outcome: Participants receive coordinated, respectful support, with clear communication and timely escalation. Scope and Working Relationships The Clinical Lead works within demonstrated competence, approved participant plans and confirmed clinical consultation and supervision arrangements. The title does not itself confer professional registration, independent assessment or clinical approval authority. Assessments,

changes to clinical plans and clinical-risk decisions requiring qualified approval follow the designated approval process. The Program & Operations Manager retains operational planning, staffing, scheduling, budgets and non-clinical HR accountability. The Program Operations Intimate Care & Respite Lead retains assigned daily delivery coordination. Hiring, pay, discipline and termination approvals remain with the Executive Director. Clinical coaching and QA do not replace these responsibilities. Key Performance Indicators Review performance using agreed records, observations and participant feedback. Set review frequency and any additional targets before implementation.
- 20–30 hours per week of direct floor leadership, modelling, demonstration and coaching, evidenced by the schedule and delivery records; document and escalate any shortfall.
- Activity plans and observed sessions show appropriate evidence-based teaching, individual adaptations, participant choice and meaningful engagement.
- Program Guides and approved support plans remain current, with required reviews and clinical approvals completed within agreed deadlines.
- Staff training includes observed practice and competency feedback; identified skill gaps have documented follow-up and reassessment.
- QA findings lead to assigned improvement actions, timely re-checks and evidence that identified delivery issues have been addressed.
- Participant progress, engagement and feedback inform program improvements; concerns and incidents receive timely documentation and escalation. Education
- Relevant post-secondary education in behaviour analysis, psychology, education, developmental services or a related field is preferred.
- Additional training in evidence-based teaching, positive behaviour support and staff coaching is an asset. Qualifications
- Demonstrated direct-support experience with autistic people and/or people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

- Ability to apply and teach approved evidence-based and ABA-informed strategies, including natural environment teaching, task analysis, prompting and fading, and reinforcement, while maintaining a person-centred, assent-responsive approach.
- Experience modelling skills and coaching staff using behavioural skills training: instruction, modelling, rehearsal and feedback, with observed practice and competency checks.
- Ability to review participant data, documentation and implementation fidelity, identify quality concerns and follow improvement actions through to completion.
- Strong team and family communication, collaboration and sound judgment about clinical and operational boundaries; willingness to seek supervision or escalate concerns.
- Commitment to participant dignity, choice, assent and inclusion, and to working within approved plans, demonstrated competence and clinical supervision arrangements. Pay: $50,000.00 per year
