We’re currently seeking an intermediate to senior Mechanical Engineer with strong HVAC and industrial design experience to support a major mining client at their corporate office in Saskatoon, SK.

About the Role
You’ll be embedded in the client’s corporate mechanical engineering team, working in an interdisciplinary environment alongside electrical, civil/structural, process, and project teams. This is a hands-on design role. You’ll scope and estimate mechanical projects across the client’s operations and carry them through detailed design to sealed Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings. Work will focus on industrial heating, ventilation, plumbing, and refrigeration systems that support mine site operations. Projects are often driven by aging or failing equipment that needs replacement or upgrade. The role is based at the corporate head office on a hybrid schedule, with occasional trips to site to support project work.

Key Responsibilities

- Scope and define mechanical projects, including assessing existing conditions, developing the design basis, and evaluating options
- Prepare cost estimates and schedules to support project approval and funding
- Complete detailed mechanical design for HVAC, industrial heating, plumbing, and refrigeration systems, including load calculations and equipment sizing and selection
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment data sheets
- Seal and issue IFC drawings and engineering deliverables




- Coordinate designs with other engineering disciplines and with site operations and maintenance teams
- Support procurement through technical specifications, bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews
- Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning, including RFI responses and occasional site visits
- Assess aging or failing mechanical equipment and recommend replacement, refurbishment, or upgrade options What You Bring
- Skilled Engineer (P.
Eng.) registration with APEGS (required)
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial, mining, or heavy industrial environments
- Strong design experience in HVAC, industrial heating, plumbing, and/or refrigeration systems
- Proven ability to take projects from scoping and estimating through detailed design and sealed IFC drawings
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., National Building Code, National Plumbing Code, CSA B52 Mechanical Refrigeration Code, ASHRAE)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering team
- Strong communication skills and comfort working with operations, maintenance, and project teams
- Ability to work on a hybrid schedule in Saskatoon, SK, with 2–3 days per week in the office and occasional travel to remote mine sites Assets
- Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) licence
- Experience with industrial refrigeration or freeze plant systems
- Experience in mining, mineral processing, or other remote industrial operations
