We are currently seeking a full-time Family Child Care Consultant. The Family Day Home Consultant is responsible for monitoring agency day homes on a monthly basis in accordance with the standards set by Alberta Child and Family Services.

Key Responsibilities

- Match parents with day home educators; follow up meetings with a phone call and confirm start dates with the Day Home Educator.
- Conduct unannounced monthly visits to assigned day homes.
- Ensure educators are responsive to children’s intellectual, physical, and emotional needs.
- Review the physical environment, including indoor and outdoor spaces, toys, furnishings, and equipment.
- Ensure the home meets all safety and hygiene requirements.
- Verify adequate food and nutrition, sufficient play space, and a variety of developmentally appropriate activities.
- Review the agency handbook, policies, and procedures with educators as required.
- Facilitate and support training opportunities for educators.
- Ensure educators remain current with research and best practices related to health and safety.
- Provide up-to-date resources to educators.
- Inspect equipment and verify compliance with safety standards in family child care homes.
- Complete Home Visit Forms and document parent contact calls.




- Maintain working knowledge of the Family Day Home Standards Manual.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the FLIGHT Curriculum Framework and support educators in applying it to their programs.
- Maintain accurate office files and record-keeping systems.
- Inform the Coordinator/Director of all complaints or matters requiring further investigation.
- Attend educator meetings and contribute or present topics as required.
- Respond to phone inquiries, provide general information about the service, and complete parent and educator intake processes.

- This position is office-based with regular travel to day home locations.
- This role requires regular driving; access to a reliable vehicle is mandatory.
