Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Aide to join our team in providing exceptional care to residents in an assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for facilitating engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for seniors. This role requires effective communication skills and a genuine passion for senior care. Hours per week vary between 3-12. Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational and therapeutic activities for residents.
- Duties include but are not limited to engage residents in various activities, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, physical exercises and portering to and from those activities.
- Support residents with disabilities by providing necessary assistance during activities to ensure their participation and enjoyment.
- Foster a positive environment by encouraging social interaction among residents.
- Document participation levels and feedback from residents to help improve future activities.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members regarding activity schedules and resident preferences. Qualifications
- Ability to read and write English at a grade 12 education preferred.
- Available to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends.
- Previous experience in a nursing home, assisted living facility, or senior care setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with persons with disabilities and providing dementia care is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with seniors and their families.
- A compassionate demeanor with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of elderly individuals.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on the needs and preferences of residents.
