Grower Under Sun Acres is a greenhouse operation located in Staples, Ontario that produces sweet bell peppers. The facility includes a 78-acre state-of-the-art growing area, climate control system, greenhouse logistics and packing equipment. We are at the cutting edge of technology operating a cogeneration system, closed loop water supply/filtration system, and more. Our in-house entomologist and research team of scientists and engineers allows Under Sun Acres to cultivate innovative ideas and push technological barriers. We are a leading example of modern greenhouse life. We are looking for a responsible and reliable candidate to fill our Grower position. The Grower is responsible for all areas related to the crop. This includes the planning and coordinating of planting, performing crop inspections and recommending crop strategies through growing period and cleanout of crop once the growing season is completed. Job Duties:
- Fully responsible for all crop activities and decisions.
- Design and manage greenhouse climate for the whole season, and daily monitoring.
- Management of crop cultivation during different crop stages.
- Manage irrigation in hydroponic system, irrigation monitoring time by time.
- Fertilizer and plant nutrition management, sample results analysis and adjustment.
- Manage the IPM team and determine pest mitigation strategy.
- Data collection and analysis for greenhouse environment, plant registration, pest control record, labor speed, quality and crop trials.




- Understand and operate PRIVA system and actively participate in all alarms.
- Create production forecasts and plan end of season clean out activities.
- Follow Bio Security, Health & Safety, Food Safety and company policies and procedures. Assist in audits when necessary.

Qualifications:

- College or University degree in horticultural field preferred.
- 2+ Years previous horticultural experience required.
- Must have strong horticultural skills.
- Greenhouse pest control IPM experience an asset.
- Pesticide licence, lift truck licence and first aid are a requirement, but can be provided to the candidate after employment.
- Previous experience with Priva an asset.
- Previous experience with Greenhouse Food Safety Audits and Health Safety an asset.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License.
- Strong planning, organizing, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with colleagues.
- This is a dynamic position well-suited for someone with a desire to learn and work in a team setting.

Salary:
$80,000
- $100,000 per year (Based on Experience) Bonus Program Health/Dental Benefits Work Schedule: Full-Time Monday to Friday, 7:00AM – 5:00PM Saturday 8am – 12pm On Call Weekends Rotation of Holidays
