URGENT: Firestop Installer – (Edmonton, AB)

Job Description

- Install firestop systems in commercial and residential buildings in compliance with fire safety codes and standards.
- Seal penetrations, joints, gaps and openings in fire-rated walls, floors and ceilings according to the approved firestop system listings, manufacturer specifications, engineering guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Install a range of firestop products, including sealants, caulks, sprays, mortars, putties, wraps, collars, sleeves, pillows and intumescent devices.
- Identify the correct firestop system for each penetration or joint type (pipe, cable, duct, curtain wall or head-of-wall).
- Label, photograph and record completed installations for inspection and project records as required.
- Engage in communications on site and document all relevant site-related issues.
- Maintain communication with the DwellSafe Project Manager and ensure accountability for assigned duties.
- Adhere to DwellSafe policies and site schedules.
- Review, complete and transmit all necessary information and documentation required.

Skills:

- Technical Skill: proficiency with firestop materials and installation techniques; ability to read and follow firestop system details; basic understanding of architectural and engineering drawings.
- Attention to Detail: strong focus on accuracy and quality so that every seal meets its listed rating and passes inspection.
- Problem-Solving: ability to identify problem penetrations or field conditions and propose effective solutions in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Review and sign off on all daily and weekly safety documents, including performing daily and weekly safety meetings and tailgate meetings.
- Monitor assigned duties for compliance with scope of work.
- Ensure all extra time is communicated with the Project Manager, and do not complete any out-of-scope or out-of-sequence work without written approval from Management.
- Other duties as required.

Salary:

- Depends on experience and education. Schedule:
- 8–10 hour shifts
- Monday–Friday, possible evenings and weekends. Ability to commute:
- Edmonton, AB

Education:

- Secondary school preferred

Experience:

- 1+ year of firestopping experience preferred.
- Caulking and sealants experience is a strong asset, and construction experience could be of benefit.
- AWP and Fall Protection certification required.
