As part of our team, you will directly contribute to building stronger connections within the badminton community, supporting members and clubs, and helping advance the sport at every level. Position Overview Badminton BC is seeking qualified and motivated coaching contractors to deliver high-quality summer badminton programming at regional recreation centres. Coaches will be responsible for leading, facilitating, and delivering engaging camps aligned with the Shuttle Time program, supporting athlete development in a fun, safe, and inclusive setting.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver badminton summer camp sessions in alignment with Badminton BC programming standards
- Implement the Shuttle Time curriculum to support fundamental skill development
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for participants of all skill levels
- Manage group organization, attendance, and basic administrative tasks
- Liaise professionally with recreation/community centre staff and Badminton BC representatives
- Ensure equipment is used appropriately and safely
- Uphold all Safe Sport policies and expectations at all times Qualifications and Skills
- Current certification within the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) appropriate for delivering Shuttle Time (e.g., Community Sport or equivalent)
- Completion of all required Safe Sport training (e.g., Respect in Sport, Safe Sport modules)
- Valid Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Current First Aid certification (preferred)

Experience:

- Previous coaching or instructional experience, ideally in badminton or similar racquet sports




- Experience working with youth participants in a camp or instructional setting
- Experience delivering structured sport programs (e.g., Shuttle Time or equivalent) is an asset Technical Proficiency:
- Ability to plan and deliver structured badminton sessions aligned with Shuttle Time principles
- Basic administrative skills (attendance tracking, session organization, reporting as required)
- Understanding of Safe Sport practices and ability to implement them in a coaching environment Communication:
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to engage participants of varying ages and skill levels
- Ability to provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and feedback
- Professional and respectful communication with participants, parents/guardians, recreation centre staff, and Badminton BC representatives Availability:
- Availability to work weekdays and/or weekends during the summer contract period
- Ability to travel to assigned regional recreation centres
- Ability to work independently and manage program delivery on-site
- Must maintain all required certifications and clearances throughout the contract period Requirements
- Availability during Summer (July-August)
- Own transport required to reach location throughout Metro Vancouver

s: Fixed term contract, Seasonal Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour Expected hours: 5.0 – 20.0 per week

Experience:
- Badminton Coaching: 2 years (preferred) Licence/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Coaching Certification (required)
- NCCP ShuttleTime (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) (preferred)
- Badminton Regional Coach qualification (preferred)
