About Dakota Dakota Prep is building the future of skilled trades education. We create modern, AI-powered tools that help electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople learn the trade, pass licensing exams, renew their licenses, earn certifications, and move forward in their careers. So far, we’ve supported more than 20,000 learners across 80+ schools, unions, and training programs in the U.
S. and Canada. We work directly with individual students and with the institutions that train them. Our newest product is Dakota Labs. You can’t learn a trade from a textbook. You learn it by doing the work, getting it wrong, and figuring out why. But physical labs are expensive, bench time is limited, and most apprentices only get a few reps before they’re expected to do it for real. Dakota Labs is a simulator where apprentices wire, install and troubleshoot real circuits from any browser, as often as they want. We think every tradesperson should get the reps they need, wherever they are, and Labs is how we get there. The role We’re hiring a part-time marketing associate to run day-to-day marketing for our learner apps and for the schools and programs we work with. You’ll handle email, the blog, the website, social, community, and campaigns, and keep all of them active and on brand. You’ll write your own briefs and get the work out the door. What you’ll work on:
• Email and newsletters. Newsletters, announcements, and updates for learners and for the programs we work with.
• Lifecycle email. Run and improve our automated email sequences.
• Campaigns. Plan and run campaigns, from win-backs to seasonal promotions.
• Product updates. Get the word out when we ship something new.
• Blog.
Write and publish content that helps tradespeople and brings in search traffic.
• Website. Update pages and build landing pages in Webflow.
• Community. Run our Discord and social channels. Answer questions, keep conversations going, and pass along what you hear.
• Social content. Create posts and short videos for the platforms where tradespeople spend their time.
• App store assets. Keep screenshots and listings up to date across our apps.
• Learner stories. Turn our learners into testimonials and stories.
• Reporting. Share a regular update on how our marketing is performing. What we’re looking for
• 1+ year of marketing experience or a recent graduate of a business program in Canada
• AI-native. You use AI agents every day and write prompts that produce content in volume, so you’re not making each piece by hand. You also have the taste to spot AI slop and won’t ship it
• A strong writer. Transparent and plain, and able to write for both a first-year apprentice and a training director
• A reliable executor. You take a goal, write the brief, and deliver finished work on schedule
• You can make clean, on-brand visuals with Figma, Canva, or AI tools and templates
• Comfortable with email platforms and website builders Nice to have
• Experience with any of our tools: Webflow, Resend, Discord, Figma, or PostHog
• Experience running an online community
• Lifecycle or consumer app marketing experience
• Edtech or early-stage startup experience Details
• Part-time contract, 3 consecutive days a week (you choose which days)
• 9 am to 5 pm ET on your working days (6 am to 2 pm PT)
• Remote, based in Canada Application Send us 2–3 pieces of marketing you made (an email, a landing page, a social post), how you made it and how it performed.
