FIRST ENGINEER Nanaimo Regular Working at BC Ferries as a member of our engineering team means you will help support our goal of building a more resilient service by increasing the capacity and interoperability of vessels across our fleet. As a First Engineer at our Nanaimo terminals, you will have the opportunity to be trained on some of our most technically advanced vessels. In this role, you bring extensive technical, interpersonal, and leadership experience to a position that is central to the safe and efficient operation of the ship’s machinery and equipment, including all operating systems and services. You also possess considerable knowledge of safe work practices. The successful applicant is a passionate and innovative engineer who brings the technical expertise, leadership skills, and operational experience required for the secure and efficient management of shipboard machinery and equipment. For 65 years, we have been dedicated to providing safe and efficient travel to our customers. Our role as a ferry transportation provider goes beyond getting passengers from point A to B. With 25 routes throughout the west coast of BC, we serve as advocates for the coastal environment and communities where we operate. Operations began in 1960 with just two ferries providing service on a single route. Today we have 37 ferries moving more than 22.7 million passengers and 9.7 million vehicles every year.
