As a Surgical Booking Clerk, you will process procedure requests and assign patients to daily surgical bookings. The work requires current knowledge of procedure protocols, computerized systems, and medical terminology. You will support surgical services by coordinating with physicians, offices, and hospital departments while maintaining accurate booking information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process surgical procedure requests and coordinate with physicians
- Update waitlists and slates using PICIS OR Manager
- Identify booking conflicts and confirm final assignments
- Communicate with nursing, surgical, and hospital departments
- Provide pre-operative instructions to patients and families
Requirements:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent combination
- Three years' recent related experience or equivalent preparation
- Valid 45-word-per-minute supervised typing test
- Medical terminology course completion or knowledge
- Availability for casual, rotating days and evenings
