Job Purpose:
We’re looking for a skilled custom woodworker with at least two years of experience. Their experience/ background should include building and repairing high-end cabinetry, range hoods, mantels, décor panels, countertops, and other custom millwork.

As a builder within this cell you will be expected to cross-train and become skilled at all the various components that circuit through the cell on a regular basis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Study blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired, and plan sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed for item formation
- Match materials for color, grain, or texture
- Visually and physically inspect cut components prior to assembly
- Set up and operate a variety of woodworking machines and use various hand tools to fabricate and repair wooden/MDF cabinets and high-grade custom items
- Assemble custom cabinetry
- Trim component parts of joints to ensure snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files
- Bore holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machine
- Glue, fit, and clamp parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit, using clamps or clamping machine
- Drive nail or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints
- Build and prepare wood edge countertops for gluing laminate or stain finish
- Sand and scrape surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing
- May repair high-grade articles of cabinetry




- May install hardware, such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls
- Cross-train in all areas of the line to meet production schedule and flow
- Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when on the manufacturing floor
- All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Education

- Grade 12
- Furniture or Cabinet Makers certificate or diploma or equivalent is an asset

Specialized knowledge, Skills/Abilities and Experience

- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings
- Extensive knowledge of materials and woodworking processes
- Knowledge of machine set-ups for a wide variety of woodworking equipment
- Knowledge of cabinetry components and assembly
- Knowledge of dowelling and edge banding processes
- Mechanical aptitude with an ability to perform in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Able to work to a high-quality standard
- Must be detail oriented
- Possess excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to work in a team atmosphere
- Display initiative and positive attitude
- Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Proven problem solving skills are essential

This position is in-person at our manufacturing facility in Renfrew.
