Apply machine learning research to Stripe’s financial infrastructure as a PhD Machine Learning Engineering Intern for summer 2027. Build models for fraud detection and user behavior.
Stripe offers internships across Applied ML, Data Science, Risk, and Payments organizations. You will contribute to projects involving foundation models, the Stripe Assistant, and the Stripe Foundation Model. The internship connects finance, technology, and data through production-scale machine learning systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy large-scale machine learning systems
- Design, train, improve, and launch machine learning models
- Write production-scale models for businesses globally

- Learn technologies and communicate work status effectively
Requirements:
- Pursuing a related PhD, graduating winter 2027 or spring/summer 2028
- Programming and machine learning experience through projects, classwork, or research
- Familiarity with Python, Scala, Spark, Pandas, NumPy, or Scikit-learn
- Expertise in supervised learning, unsupervised learning, or ML operations
- Intent to return to the degree program afterward
