Support Nortera’s vegetable production by scouting crop development and field pest pressure across Essex, Kent, Middlesex, Elgin, and Oxford counties. This seasonal role offers full-time work from May through September 2027.
The Agricultural Crop Scout monitors peas, sweet corn, snap beans, and lima beans throughout their growth stages. You will assist with pre-harvest samples and identify weeds, diseases, and insects in fields. The position is based at one Nortera plant while primarily requiring regional travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor growth stages for four vegetable crops
- Assess field pressure from weeds, diseases, and insects
- Collect pre-harvest samples with the agricultural team
- Travel between fields across assigned counties
Requirements:
- Enrollment in post-secondary agricultural studies
- Ability to work independently
- Solid written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
- G license with a clean driving abstract
- Ability to work weekends and extended hours
