Export Development Canada is hiring a Lead Counsel for its approximately 30-lawyer Legal Services group. This permanent position supports origination and back-office activities across corporate lending, including project finance. The successful lawyer will also advise other legal and business areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

- Handle transaction development, structuring, negotiation, and documentation
- Manage waivers, consents, and amendments for financing products
- Provide advice on EDC rights, obligations, and internal policies
- Interpret the Export Development Act and related statutes
- Collaborate proactively with legal and business teams

Requirements:

- Law degree and Canadian bar licensure
- Seven or ten years of relevant legal experience
- Working knowledge of legal services principles and practices
- Strong creative and critical thinking skills
- Robust influencing, negotiation, and relationship management skills

Use advanced legal analysis, commercial judgment, and negotiation skills to support EDC’s lending and investment activities.
