Work on CRISPR-mediated gene editing and algal biology at UNSW, contributing to climate resilience research in Australia.
As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will undertake research within BABS and the Golden Genome Project, funded by Revive and Restore. The project identifies climate resilience determining loci in microalgae with small genomes and applies gene editing to Ecklonia radiata. The appointment involves independent research, collaboration, scholarly dissemination, and contributions to research development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct discipline-appropriate research using appropriate research methods
- Lead microalgal insertional deletion library construction
- Develop transformation protocols for Ecklonia radiata
- Record results and contribute to scholarly research outputs
- Present project outcomes at relevant conferences and workshops
Requirements:
- PhD in a related discipline or relevant experience
- Microalgal culture and transformation experience
- Robust molecular biology expertise and research capability
- Evidence of publications and conference presentations
- Commitment to current discipline knowledge and development
Bring independent research capability, CRISPR interests, and algal biology expertise to UNSW’s climate resilience project.
