Lead mechanical design for Viken Detection’s X-ray and chemical detection systems in Burlington, Massachusetts, spanning handheld devices and scanning platforms.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will guide complex product development across concept, production, and sustaining engineering. You will collaborate with Engineering, Physics, Program Management, and Operations. The work includes SolidWorks or Onshape, rapid prototyping, manufacturing-focused design, and electromechanical assemblies.
Key Responsibilities: Lead mechanical system and subsystem designs across product platforms
Refine system architecture and requirements with cross-functional teams
Drive rapid prototypes and proof-of-concept development
Own bills of materials, drawings, tolerances, and test fixtures
Support production builds,



training, and sustaining design improvements
Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Seven or more years’ progressive product development experience
Experience designing handheld, electromechanical, robotic, industrial, or scanning systems
Understanding of molded plastics, structural components, and mechanical mechanisms
SolidWorks or Onshape experience and FEA knowledge
Apply mechanical leadership, prototyping, CAD, and production ownership to Viken Detection’s advanced detection products.
