Operate and maintain AltaLink transmission substations in Lethbridge, using electrical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and disciplined safety practices.
This full-time permanent Substation Technologist/Substation Electrician supports Transmission Field Operations in Alberta. Reporting to the Manager, Substations South, you will work within a multidisciplinary team maintaining equipment from 4160V to 500KV. The work includes equipment status reporting, emergency response, safe work planning, and support for capital upgrades and current technologies.
Key Responsibilities: Operate, inspect, and maintain transmission substation equipment
Provide equipment status information and recommend improvements
Respond to station facility troubles and system emergencies
Support capital upgrades, replacements, SVC,



and PST technologies
Develop safe work plans and mentor junior employees
Requirements: Related recognized technologist diploma, preferably Electrical Technology
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with analytical problem-solving skills
Knowledge of required safety practices, procedures, and standards
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and computer competency
Ability to work at heights, outdoors, on-call, and out-of-town
Bring substation maintenance, emergency response, and safety expertise to AltaLink’s transmission operations from the Lethbridge field office.
