The Ministry of Finance’s Commodity and Sales Tax Policy Branch seeks a Senior Policy Advisor. You will guide complex sales tax policy, legislative, and regulatory initiatives involving HST, RST, and municipal taxation powers. The position supports government decision-making through research, options evaluation, briefing materials, and evidence-based recommendations.
Key Responsibilities: Lead research and analysis of complex sales tax policy issues
Evaluate policy, legislative, and operational options
Prepare briefings for senior management and decision-makers
Participate in the Ontario Budget process




Coordinate policy and legislative development with stakeholders
Requirements: Knowledge of HST, RST, and related tax legislation
Understanding of policy development and legislative processes
Strategic leadership of legislative proposals and tax measures
Experience managing complex initiatives with competing priorities
Robust research, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
Bring tax policy expertise, legislative judgment, and strategic leadership to Ontario’s Ministry of Finance in Toronto.
