Operate and maintain AltaLink transmission substations in Lethbridge, using electrical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and disciplined safety practices.
This full-time permanent Substation Technologist/Substation Electrician supports Transmission Field Operations in Alberta. Reporting to the Manager, Substations South, you will work within a multidisciplinary team maintaining equipment from 4160V to 500KV. The work includes equipment status reporting, emergency response, safe work planning, and support for capital upgrades and new technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, inspect, and maintain transmission substation equipment
- Provide equipment status information and recommend improvements
- Respond to station facility troubles and system emergencies
- Support capital upgrades, replacements, SVC,
and PST technologies
- Develop safe work plans and mentor junior employees
Requirements:
- Related recognized technologist diploma, preferably Electrical Technology
- Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude with analytical problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of required safety practices, procedures, and standards
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and computer competency
- Ability to work at heights, outdoors, on-call, and out-of-town
