Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up dental tools for procedures
- Assist dentists during examinations, restorations, orthodontic treatments, and other dental procedures
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) technology when necessary
- Manage patient records efficiently using dental software such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and greeting patients as a dental receptionist
- Support pediatric patients with gentle care and reassurance during visits,
especially in orthodontic or routine check-ups
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Dentrix and Epic for scheduling, records management, and billing
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to dentistry and orthodontics to accurately document procedures
- Experience assisting with orthodontic treatments and pediatric dentistry to cater to diverse patient needs
- Strong understanding of dental assisting techniques, sterilization protocols, and infection control standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, providing transparent instructions and compassionate support
- Familiarity with CAD technology for digital impressions or restorations is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills to coordinate appointments, manage patient flow, and maintain a clean clinical environment
