Name of Position: Wood Worker / Sander

Location: Scarborough, Ontario

Salary: $ 19.50 - $25.00

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Wood Worker / Sander to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sanding and preparing

wood components, working with veneer and plastic laminate, and using various hand and

power tools to produce high-quality furniture components. This role also involves operating

woodworking machinery, hand tools, and performing detailed assembly work in a manufacturing

or workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Utilize a variety of skills and methodologies on multiple projects, for large, high-quality

clients

* Understand detailed architectural drawings, schematics, shop drawings, and blueprints

* Operate woodworking machines including saws and milling, sanding machines, drill

presses, lathes, shapers, routers, planers, and wood-fastening machines (nailer’s, staplers,

adhesives)

* Cut, shape, and assemble wood, MDF, plywood, and composite materials

* Smooth surfaces, edges, and joints to prepare products for finishing

* Apply and trim plastic laminate (Formica or similar) using contact cement and edge

finishing technique

* Work with wood veneer, including layout, matching, pressing, trimming, scraping and

finishing.

* Ensure that products meet industry standards and client's project specifications, making

adjustments as necessary

* Perform sanding, minor finishing, and surface preparation as required

* Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy, fit, and quality standards

* Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with health and safety policies





* Follow company procedures, production schedules, and quality requirements

* Report material shortages, defects, or equipment issues to the supervisor

Qualifications & Experience

* High school diploma or equivalent preferred

* Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Cabinet Maker or Woodworker, including hands-

on experience assembling cabinets and office furniture in a furniture manufacturing or

woodworking workplace (preferred).

* Strong knowledge of woodworking tools (scraper, orbit sander, router, file), machinery,

and materials

* Proven experience working with plastic laminate and veneer

* Ability to read and accurately use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares)

* Ability to read shop drawings and measurements accurately

* Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship

* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team

Physical Requirements

* Ability to stand for extended periods

* Ability to perform repetitive tasks

* Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs

* Good manual dexterity, attention to detail and hand-eye coordination required

Working Conditions

* Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery

* Use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear is mandatory

* Full-time, on-site position
