About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support an 86-year-old gentleman in Fenelon Falls who is experiencing mobility challenges and balance issues. He uses a walker or wheelchair and has recently had a catheter placed, which may become permanent. While he maintains a good level of independence, he needs assistance with personal care tasks, particularly bathing and grooming. His 87-year-old wife provides primary support, but additional help is needed to ensure his safety and comfort. The family is making home modifications to improve bathroom accessibility, including installing sliding glass doors to make the shower more manageable.

Responsibilities:

The caregiver will assist with bathing twice weekly, helping the client sit safely on a shower chair and managing water controls. Additional grooming support includes shaving, hair care, and applying moisturizing cream to legs and feet, as the client has difficulty reaching. The caregiver should be prepared to work patiently with someone who is adjusting to accepting help after a lifetime of independence. Light assistance with other personal care needs may be required as they arise during visits.

What We're Looking For:

We need someone who makes the client feel comfortable and respects his independence while providing necessary support. The ideal caregiver is calm, patient, and brings positive energy to each visit. Reliability and consistency are essential, as is the ability to take initiative when needed.



Strong communication skills with both the client and family members are important. Experience with mobility assistance, including walkers and wheelchairs, is required. Personal care experience, particularly with bathing and grooming support for seniors, is essential. English-speaking caregivers only.

Schedule:

Tuesday and Friday mornings, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (2-hour visits). There is flexibility to extend visits to 3 hours if needed to accommodate the client's pace and any additional tasks. The position requires a 3-month commitment with the schedule continuing on a rolling basis thereafter. Start date is versatile and can be arranged based on caregiver availability.
