Job Overview

Chrima Metal Fabrication is seeking a skilled Machinist to support our production operations by setting up and operating CNC machining equipment, machining welded components, and ensuring all parts meet precise specifications. This position plays a key role in fulfilling custom orders, tooling requirements, and internal maintenance needs.

Duties

- Set up, operate, and monitor Haas CNC machining centers to produce machined components and weldments to engineering drawing specifications.
- Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T; callouts, and work orders to determine machining sequences, tooling, and set-up requirements.
- Machine weldments and fabricated assemblies to precise dimensional tolerances using CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices; perform tool offsets and program adjustments at the machine control as required.
- Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments — including micrometers and calipers to verify dimensional conformance to drawing specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machining centers as per established maintenance schedules; identify and report equipment defects or abnormalities to supervision.




- Collaborate with the production team, welders, and engineering staff to resolve machining issues and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

- Completion of a college, vocational, or technical training program in machining, tooling, or a related trade — OR equivalent on-the-job training and demonstrated experience.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating CNC machining centers, preferably Haas equipment (mills and/or lathes).
- Demonstrated proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Competency with precision measurement tools, including micrometers, Vernier calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Ability to perform basic CNC program edits and tool/work offsets at the machine control panel.
- Solid understanding of machining principles: speeds, feeds, tooling selection, material properties, and work-holding strategies.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality machined components.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date production documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced shop workplace.

Pay: $30.00-$36.00 per hour
